Getting rid of the Inner Snooze

34
The thing about life is that it's rather simple to get what you want, but it is certainly not easy.
There will be days when you are just never gonna feel like it--getting out of bed will be too much or maybe cleaning the house will seem like a never ending task.

I mean all the responsibility may have you feeling just like Jess in this photo
(In case you didn't know, I have a huge love for the show New Girl)
. . .
Being over 530 miles away from home, I've learned a lot these past two year at BYU.
The top 5 things I've learned are:

  1. Tinder is and always will be a very bad idea (even if you only have it for an hour)
  2. Going to doctor appointments by yourself is not necessarily as scary as it may seem
  3. Writing in your calendar about important deadlines/dates saves lives, literally...
  4. Having a code word with your friends that you can text them incase you need to get out of a bad date is a must have #SavesLives
  5. But the most important thing I've learned: You need to parent yourself.

                                . . .
You gotta force yourself to do it. Your parents may be miles away or they may even be down the road but the point is, no one is going to tell you to clean your room or to get your homework done yet these things still need to get done. Hence the 'you need to parent yourself.'

It's time to get rid of that inner snooze you hit whenever responsibility comes around and the only thing staring back at you is endless piles of homework, housework etc.

Because the thing is, your soul not only needs exploration and growth but it craves it. This means getting out of that head of yours and getting things done. Whether that means finding a new hobby or getting ahead on work, that's up to you. You see, the problem isn't the ideas you have, the problem so many of us deal with is the lack of action. We all have stuff to do and it's sure not gonna happen on its own.

So be kind to yourself, get rid of that inner snooze, maybe get a little crazy like Jess in the photo above and just go for it. Be that person that beats all the statistics and accomplishes the "impossible."

Smile Always, n.h.
