When you think of the word beautiful, what comes to mind?
Maybe you think of the mountains, or the sunset, maybe you think of the person that sits next to you in class, or even the small yellow flower you pass by on the way home. But when you think of the word beautiful do you ever think of yourself?
No? Well here's some truth to spice up your world, I mean, in case you didn't already know.
You are beautiful.
. . .
There are days when I wake up and I feel like I can conquer the world. But, I'd be a liar if I didn't mention that I also have days when I have to look in the mirror and remind myself over and over again that I am beautiful. That I am enough. That I am loved.
. . .
I've been thinking a lot lately about my future and what it will entail--or at least what I want it to entail. And then the thought hit me... almost as instantly and as spontaneously as when I decided to uncover the blender bc my smoothie wasn't mixing but of course as soon as that happened the smoothie decided to splatter itself all over the kitchen and my face/hair. Any who, then the thought hit me that life is not really about knowing exactly what you want. It's about making the slow and steady choices for the better of your own personal character. It's building a life that exemplifies a Christ-like love. When you really dig deep you see that it's just about getting brave enough to make a choice.
One choice, and then another, and then another.
Now, if for some reason you are someone that doesn't even know what or how to choose something, get on your knees and pray. Whenever I feel stumped in life I find that it's because I've become so focused on what I want or what I need rather than what He wants or what He needs from me.
. . .
So next time you think of the word beautiful, choose to think of yourself as just that. Don't let this thin crazed perfectionist world tell you otherwise. To quote Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience." Choose to have that experience.
