Today I attended my very FIRST stake conference ever as an ADULT!
Weird. I know. But overall, it was really great! I loved it!
There was a guy who is Elders Quorum President for one of the oh so many wards here and his talk was amazing. He was not a member growing up and had quite a difficult life growing up but was blessed to find the gospel when he was 11/12ish.
His testimony really hit me because I know that in my life I've had my share of struggles (just like everyone else) and no matter how hard or lonely or scared you may feel as long as you keep the faith and keep pushing forward Heavenly Father WILL bless you.
I've been here at BYU almost three weeks now and it's been great! I have had a few hard days and I know I'll probably have some more in the future but what I also know is that Heavenly Father loves me. I know that he is carrying me through in all of my trials. I know that He has definitely blessed me with some really amazing friends so far.
I'm gonna take a moment to rant about my roommates real quick because they are AMAZING! Like I am so so so blessed to have them! They are so loving, supportive, a bit strange (in a good way haha) and are just spiritual giants. Hannah, is this beautiful (they're all like super beautiful which kinda sucks bc there goes the boys! haha) super talented dancer/photographer who makes you feel so welcomed and loved. Lauryn is this funny super down to earth gal and she is just a blessing to have. (She also knows how to twerk like super good which is kinda weird since she's like super white and she's also probably gonna kill me for saying this haha). And last but not least there is Michaella who is literally the best. I've known her since I was 12 and if you would have asked me 6 years ago I would have never guessed I would love this girl so much! She is just so spontaneous and super understanding which is EXACTLY the type of person I need as my roommate.
From left to right it's Michaella, Me, Lauryn, and Hannah!
So I have been super blessed/lucky to have them but what really just puts the cherry on top of this is that I get to have my best friend living down the hall from me!! Megan who's been my best friend ever since I could speak english lol is the best! She is this beautiful and very blunt girl (well she is with me) and she has been my moral support (apart from my family) for as long as I can remember.
As you can see life here with all of them is such a blessing bc I know I have people to always count on. But they're not the only ones who've helped me. One night I was really struggling with my recovery and with homesickness so my friend Stephen (he's seriously the best even though he does have man sass at times haha) and his RA David came over and gave me a blessing. I don't think they realize how much that not only meant to me but also how much that helped me on not only that night but every day since. Who knows, may be one day they will.
I was also able to attend my first home football game on 9/11 which as you can imagine was a hard day with the twin towers but not only that, for me it was especially hard because three years ago my grandpa, the man I loved and looked up to all of my childhood, passed away. I didn't mention it to anyone here or at home but it was hard to really process. I think what made it easier was reading my scriptures and knowing that Heavenly Father has a plan for each and everyone of us. I know that because of the plan of salvation I will see my grandpa again some day. After all, Families are FOREVER.
The picture below is of a card stunt we as students and spectators did on the day of the football game. I am on the "R" of the word "Roar"
It was really awesome to be a part of that.
I apologize that my post has been all over the place but if there is anything you should take from it is that God lives. He loves you and He will NOT leave you comfortless. I know this because He has blessed me by the friendships I've made so far, not only in college but in my entire life.
